The Stewardship Development Services of the Diocese assists churches and Episcopal agencies to develop a Planned Giving Program -- or help strengthen your existing program. Contact us -- our services are free. We also help individual donors in their estate plans and in creating life-income plans benefiting your church or agency, where appropriate.
Planned Giving is the key to funding future ministry in our
diocese, churches, schools and agencies. We meet
with clergy and lay leaders to either start a
gift-planning program or improve a program that
is already in place. There has been great demand
for our services in presenting life-planning
workshops to church members, using the Stewards
of Thy Abundance book as a guide.
Our goal is to provide encouragement and a "how to" approach to your Planned Giving program. We begin by helping you set up policies and
procedures for your program. Then, we help you
with communications to your congregation and
supporters regarding the program. And last, we
will help you set up procedures to record gifts
and recognize your donors.
In the churches and agencies where planned
giving programs are in place we have the
opportunity to evaluate your approach so it will
be well received by your congregation. And, we
will help you to discover what is missing in
your program and what needs strengthening.
Our involvement together would focus on three key areas:
1] Establishing the policies and procedures that would govern your endowment fund.
2] Defining a clear marketing plan that would include all means of communication [see resources below], such as web site, printed materials, announcements, meetings, special events, advertising, news articles, letters, and a time table [see downloadable information below].
3] Responding to inquires by prospective donors, and providing donors with legal, accounting, tax reporting and administrative services as needed.

STEWARDS OF THY ABUNDANCE
In the Episcopal Church we believe that a person's estate plan should reflect their values. We have a booklet, "Stewards of Thy Abundance" that provides the information to set up a medical directive, plan a funeral service and write a will or living trust.
